Sylt is the largest North Frisian island. It extends in a north-south direction off the North Sea coast of Schleswig-Holstein. The northernmost German island is known above all for its tourist resorts of Westerland, Kampen and Wenningstedt, as well as for the almost 40-kilometer-long west beach.
