GARCHING - Munich's beautiful north

The city of Garching in the north of Munich can now look back on 1,100 years of history; Dirnismaning and the University and Research Center. In addition to the beautiful pedestrian zone with its restaurants and cafes, the Garching landscape is particularly attractive: several streams, including the Mühlbach, Gießen and Schwabinger Bach, are important parts of the landscape in the corridor and in the Isar floodplains. In addition, there is the artificially created Wiesäckerbach and the Überreiterbach - a total of 24.9 kilometers of river flow through the town. A special gem as a recreational and bathing area is certainly the Garching lake with its ingrown green areas: nature can be experienced here in every season - crunching snow and bare ice in winter, the blooming spring, the shimmering hot summer with cooling in the water and the beautiful golden autumn with sun-drenched afternoons on the slopes to the lake. Garching's proximity to the mountains always conjures up the typical cloud phenomena in the sky, especially in the evening or just before storms, a short walk to the city's natural oases is worthwhile.
