EnduRoMania

In 1995 an economic development project for tourism in rural areas with the name EnduRoMania (www.enduromania.net) was set up in south-western Romania with the help of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. Due to the ideal conditions for enduro hiking and practicing other sports with all-terrain vehicles, as well as the system developed for this, south-western Romania has become one of the most popular European off-highway tourism destinations for the restricted western motorsport fans. This newly created system consists of a set of rules for the sporting part, tourist information, cartographic material, GPS data for navigation and logistical support. Since 1995 this event has been held over 120 times and several thousand participants from Western Europe have taken part. The pictures shown here show the Enduro hikers who were the first to take part in EnduRoMania.
