Bridges are masterpieces of architecture. Many are well over 100 years old and continue to serve faithfully as a link (not only) between two places. They fascinate us, whether made of stone or steel, whether in a vibrant metropolis or in the lonely nature. Because they withstand the endurance test time and time again when they defy the weight and vibrations of trains, cars or even just strolling pedestrians. Many are monuments that we visit specifically because we are amazed by their stability, filigree construction and the impressive engineering skill that was required for their success, whether then or now, small or large.
