Bavarian Alpine Region

The Koenigssee in Bavaria is secluded and picturesquely nestled in the mountains of the Berchtesgaden National Park. Surrounded by steep, rugged rock faces, the water is a deep, almost emerald-green blue. The high peaks of the Berchtesgaden Alps, above all the imposing Watzmann, rise majestically above the lake and provide an impressive backdrop. On the shores of Lake Koenigssee lies the world-famous pilgrimage church of St. Bartholomew, recognizable by its red onion domes, which stand out picturesquely against the mountains. The landscape is wildly romantic, with dramatic cliffs, waterfalls and enchanted bays that can only be reached by boat. Just five miles away is the idyllic village of Ramsau, which also has an international tourist appeal.
