Sparrows

The sparrow is a songbird and belongs to the sparrow bird family. The house sparrow, as our sparrow is officially called, is not yet threatened with extinction, but it is on the warning list of threatened species. According to the "Stiftung Deutsche Wildtiere" (German Wildlife Foundation), the population has declined by 20 to 50 percent in most federal states over the past 25 years. In Hamburg, the sparrow population has even decreased by 85 percent. It would be a shame if these cheeky little sparrows stopped keeping us company.
