Naumburg / Saale - Pictures of a lovable city

Around the year 1000 the "Nuwenburg" was built by the Ekkehardingers not far from the confluence of the Unstrut and Saale rivers. Merchants and craftsmen soon settled in the shelter of the castle. The city flourished and was for a time also a member of the Hanseatic League. The Higher Regional Court is now where the castle once stood. The cathedral, magnificent town houses and the well-preserved old town with cathedral freedom still tell of the heyday of a proud city. A cultural landscape on the way to becoming a world cultural heritage.
