Moray Eels - Short-sighted hunters in the coral reef

At first glance, moray eels are not exactly popular people and have the reputation of being aggressive and snappy. The regular breathing looks menacing and doesn't have a particularly good reputation among divers and encounters with them can sometimes give you goosebumps. They don't look very friendly either, peeking out of their caves and slowly opening and closing their mouths. What looks like a threatening gesture is actually just the regular breathing movement of a moray eel. A moray eel that feels threatened will back off a bit and open its mouth wide. She remains in this position until she realizes that there is no longer any danger. Short-sighted hunters If moray eels are not bothered, they are actually very quiet and shy animals. They lie in wait in their niche all day long, waiting for prey to swim by. Then it is struck with lightning speed. Moray eels prefer to eat small fish, crabs and octopus. When hunting, the predatory fish are helped by their good sense of smell and good hearing. The eyes, on the other hand, are rather useless, all moray eels are very short-sighted. Only at night do moray eels venture out of their burrows. They sometimes go hunting by swimming freely, but always staying close to their corals and the seabed. Small fish and big chunks
