The myth of the American Wild West has survived to this day. The heroes of the time, be it Wyatt Earp, Billy the Kid or Doc Holiday, can still be encountered today when you stroll through the abandoned ghost towns of the old west. In some of these ghost towns stubborn residents have kept their homes to this day. Some of these places like Calico, Lincoln or Bodie, where the gold rush of the 19th century comes back to life, are now destinations for numerous American tourists.
