There are several terms for this type of photography: Dark and Moody, Mystic Light or also Chiaroscuro, an Italian term that originally comes from painting and means light dark. It stands for a strong light dark contrast like in the paintings of Caravaggio or Rembrandt, which creates an intense, often dramatic mood.
