Karl Drais undertook the first excursion with his trolley in the summer of 1817 from Mannheim city center to what is now the suburb of Rheinau. Karl Drais was an inventor and, among many other things, invented the first balance bike, the archetype of today's bicycle. After initial marketing difficulties, the impeller reappeared in a modified form 55 years later in France and became known worldwide through the World Exhibition in Paris in 1867. This beautiful black and white calendar with photographs by Ulrike SSK was created on this occasion
